Locked Gate

"What do you mean the gate won't open?"
 
 
"That's what it says. Looks like it's locked down."
 
 
"Why would they do that?"
 
 
"If it was intentional, I imagine to keep the ferals out of the interior worlds. We probably need to find a different way around."
 
 
"You understand why this is a problem for us, yes?"
 
 
"It's becoming clear, yeah - unless we find a different way around."
 
 
"Do we need a passkey?"
 
 
"I don't think it's an issue of access, I think it's just closed. We should probably go somewhere else."
 
 
"Right, OK. So we wait for them to come by and open it? When is that going to be? We only just missed that feral swarm two jumps back, they're going to be on top of us any time."
 
 
"That's what I'm saying, I don't think the locals have anything to do with it. I think it's just closed. We need to find a gate that isn't closed."
 
 
"Closed, closed, what does that mean? Is it broken?"

"Could be. You know, if you really want to avoid the ferals we can probably dump our cargo - they're attracted to its magnetic signature, we-"
 
 
"What are you talking about? Dumping our cargo - are you mad? Why do you think we came all the way out here? No, we just need to find a way through this gate."
 
 
"I think we need to find a different way out of here."
 
 
"Stop saying that. Why would we go around when we have a perfectly fine gate right here? Maybe it needs money, do you have any LUX?"
 
 
"If it won't open it's not a perfectly fine gate. We're getting proximity alarms, the ferals are in this system."
 
 
"We need to try something different."
 
 
"Finally, now you're thinking. We should go-"
 
 
"Maybe we just need to run into it at a certain speed, to trigger the jump mechanism."
 
 
"No."
 
 
"You're not being very helpful."
 
 
"The ferals are right on top of us."
 
 
"Well if you can help me get through this gate, then that won't be a problem anymore, will it?"
 
 
"They're tearing through our hull right now."
 
 
"Maybe there's a command we need to send the gate console, some sort of friendly greeting..."
 
 
"They've killed life control, we're dead."
 
 
"You know, I'm starting to think maybe we should've gone around."
