Data recovered by Riders in the Cydias system in [REDACTED] Cluster. Analysis indicates the data is a reconstruction of a human neurosemantic recall signature, passed between various feral networks over a considerable span of time. 
 
 
Unlike other similar fragments of recovered data, this archive has been maintained in good condition. The reason for this archive's persistence within the aforementioned feral networks is currently known.

The drones hover near their handiwork, waiting for new instructions, bio-computational processes verging on constructing the concept of satisfaction from first principles. Shuddering under the transference of momentum, the mining vessel holds the asteroid in place as a swarm of humans descend upon the asteroid, equipment ready.

The Suidae part of the drones' neural pathways long to continue to root around in the would be earth, to further crack the asteroid. The sapien component elevates desire into a request. A message is sent to the shipgraf.

A moment’s thought and the shipgraf denies the drones' request. Attention focuses on the crew swarming the rock below. A few soft warnings sound. Half a dozen of the miners below have dropped out of contact. No one reacts. It is routine. It is within acceptable parameters.

The requests are summarily ignored, even as they continue to pour in. Minutes pass. All attention on the vessel is focused on mineral extraction. No one notices the shifts in requests from the drones.

The drones' cold shells drift in front of the mining vessel. Packet after packet bounces into the void. Then, a power signature. 
 
 
Three reactors step through their startup sequences. Three sets of neural pathways flicker back to life. Three mining lasers begin their charge cycle.

Their target is not the would-be earth. 
 
 
Three beams strike the mining vessel’s hull. Three chunks of metal and biomass float away from the ship’s structure. Three sets of neural pathways operating in unison. Again and again the drones rake their lasers across their target’s surface. 
 
 
As the bridge evaporates, the shipgraf can think only to blame an interloper. A Venture hacking unit. One of the luddites on the edge of known space. Someone, anyone human.
